Its been a busy week for John Williams news so we’ve rounded up all the stories and listed them below.
- Hollywood Museum honours Oscar-winning composer John Williams
The Hollywood Museum are opening a new exhibit featuring costumes, props, posters and photos from the blockbusters and classics for which he’s composed, including “Jurassic Park,” “Superman” and “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone.”
“John Williams is considered one of the greatest film composers of all time, with a career spanning more than six decades,” said Donelle Dadigan, president and founder of the Hollywood Museum.
“This is a wonderful collaboration of two nonprofits in Hollywood — the Hollywood Museum, which is dedicated to showcasing Hollywood legends, and the Jose Iturbi Foundation, dedicated to ‘popularizing classic music one note at a time’ for public benefit,” Dadigan said. “We are proud to spotlight his legendary movies with this special exhibit.”
The exhibit will continue until the end of the year.
- John Williams honoured in Sturbridge
John Williams has the Ken Burns Lifetime Achievement to add to his award case. The maestro humbly accepted the honour, thanking the crowd for “the privilege of this night” and looking embarrassed by the standing ovation he received Thursday night at Old Sturbridge Village.
Williams, who confessed it was his first time at OSV, praised the living history museum for the “fantastic contribution to American historic preservation.”

- John Williams Appearing At The Hollywood Bowl This Friday
John Williams returns to the Hollywood Bowl to showcase some of his most famous compositions including those for “Raiders of the Lost Ark” and “Star Wars.” Julie Andrews is on the bill as well, and she and Williams will host a tribute to director Blake Edwards and composer Henry Mancini, who created hits “Breakfast at Tiffany’s,” “The Pink Panther,” “Peter Gunn” and “Victor/Victoria.” Hollywood Bowl, 2301 N Highland Ave., L.A. 8 p.m. Fri. - The Official News That John Williams Is Scoring The New Star Wars Movies…Is Now Official
At CEII Kathleen Kennedy confirmed that Williams is to score the Star Wars movie, Star Wars VII. StarWars.com posted on their page that this is of course is official but confirmed that he will be scoring the movies not the movie. This means we will be getting John Williams Star Wars goodness for many years to come. Life is great
