Warner Bros. Entertainment and J.K. Rowling announced today that they are to develop a new series of films inspired by Harry Potter’s Hogwarts textbook “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” and the adventures of the book’s fictitious author, Newt Scamander.
The movies like the book will take place seventy years before Harry Potter and will start in New York. Harry Potter author, Rowlings said she has no intention of this new series being a sequel to Harry Potter. She was keen to state:
“The laws and customs of the hidden magical society will be familiar to anyone who has read the Harry Potter books or seen the films, but Newt’s story will start in New York, seventy years before Harry’s gets underway,”
This will be good news for the British movie industry as it’s likely the new series of films will be shot in the UK like the Harry Potter movies before it.
